摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peripheral plug arrangement structure and an ignition method for a multipoint ignition engine, in which emission of hydrocarbon HC and the like in exhaust gas can be largely reduced. SOLUTION: This structure is provided with a cylinder head 12 having a center plug 31 roughly at a center of an inner wall surface, a squish generating part 21 formed of the inner wall surface 12b of the cylinder head and a crown surface 14a of a piston to generate a normal squish when the piston 14 rises from around an upper dead point, and generate a reverse squish when the piston 14 falls from around the upper dead point, and peripheral plugs 32 provided on the squish generating part 12 for ignition after a compression upper dead point and while the reverse squish is generated.
