PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the axial size of a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine to make the internal combustion engine compact, and facilitate assemblage work for the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine 11 is provided with a flywheel magneto 57 interlocked with and connected to a crankshaft 28, and a pulser coil 68 fixed to a crankcase 20 to output an ignition signal when faced with a prescribed part 67 in the circumferential direction of a rotor 61 of the flywheel magneto 57. The rotor 61 of the flywheel magneto 57 is disposed on an axis 54 that is parallel to an axis 27 of the crankshaft 28. It is provided with a first positioning means 106 to position the crankshaft 28 to a prescribed crank angle to the crankcase 20, and a second positioning means 107 to position the prescribed part 67 in the rotor 61 to the pulser coil 68 in the circumferential direction of the rotor 61.
