PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for tire tread which is improved in workability, and allows improvement of a balance between low fuel expense and wet performance. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for tire tread comprises 100 pts.wt. of a diene-base rubber containing a natural rubber at 50 pts.wt. or more, 20-150 pts.wt. of a reinforcing filler containing silica at 60 wt% or more, and 0.5-15 pts.wt. of a phenol-modified terpene resin, wherein the phenol-modified terpene resin has a softening point of 60-130°C, a hydroxyl value of 25-100 KOHmg/g, and dynamic viscosity of 1,000-10,000 mPa s at 160°C.
