PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air purifier which can improve ability to degrade toxic chemical substances in air and an air conditioning apparatus provided with the air purifier. SOLUTION: The air purifier 1 is provided with a container that comprises a cylindrical dielectric 11 having an air inlet on one end and an air outlet on the other end so as to form a flow passage starting from the inlet to the outlet, a closed space, a lid 12, and a lid 13. The air purifier 1 is also provided with an exothermic body 14 disposed within the region on the air inlet side within the internal space of the container and a discharging electrode 15 and a counter electrode 16 disposed within the region on the air outlet side in the internal space of the container.
