PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save a user much time and labor by automatizing the generation of groups, registration and deletion in the data storage equipment which groups the stored data and manages them. SOLUTION: On the basis of the classification conditions stored by a classification condition storage section 141, the data storage equipment generates a candidate capable of grouping (group candidate 740) by investigating attribute information 712 on data 711 stored by a data storage part 111. Further, it prevents groups generated automatically from increasing too much and causing difficulty in the management, by registering only a group out of the group candidates which fulfills group generation conditions which are stored by a group generation condition storage section 151.
