PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a further inexpensive and highly reliable sheet feeder, in an universal paper feeding cassette capable of storing paper of a large size from a small size by 500 sheets in loading capacity. SOLUTION: This sheet feeder has a sheet feeding member, a sheet loading plate, a pressing means for pressing a loaded sheet to a sheet feeding means by pushing up the loading plate, and a side regulating plate movable so as to guide the sheet side end in response to a plurality of sheet sizes. The sheet feeding means has a sheet feeding means position switching means so as to switch a position of the sheet feeding means in response to a kind such as the size and weighting of the sheet by taking two positions of at least a first position and a second position in the pushing-up direction of the pushing-up means; and is constituted so as to be positioned in the upper first position when the sheet is the small size such as A4 and to be positioned in the lower second position when the sheet size is the large size such as A3 in detail.
