PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a center pillar structure of an automobile for preventing deformation of an inner side retractor opening relative to an excessive input to a center pillar by side collision and the like. SOLUTION: In this center pillar of an automobile with a rear door hinge mounting face, a hinge seating face 4 of a rear door is projected on an outer reinforcement 1, and a hinge retainer spot seating face 2 is indented to communicate with the face 4. Positions of ridgelines 6 of upper and lower walls 3a, 3b of the hinge retainer spot seating face 2 are differentiated from ridgelines 7, and a vertical wall 3c of the hinge retainer spot seating face 2 is made wider than the width of the hinge seating face 4, so as to form a trapezoidal hinge retainer spot seating face 2.
