LIGHT EMITTING DIODE AND BI-CURVATURE LENS FOR PHOTODETECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens have diameter smaller than that of a conventional spherical lens for infrared radio communication.

SOLUTION: A bi-curvature lens is disclosed for the diode of an infrared radio communication tranceiver. Devices are also disclosed having the related bi-curvature lens such as light emitting device, photodetection device and tranceiver. A method for designing the related lens and a method for manufacturing a device having the related lens are also disclosed. The disclosed bi-curvature lens has a lower hemisphere and an upper hemisphere. A light emitting diode and the photodetector used together with the bi-curvature lens exhibit symmetrical radiation strength characteristics per Standard and Protocol of Infrared Data Association.
