<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellular communication system that can appropriately control the transmitter power so as to avoid generation of frame errors. <P>SOLUTION: A power control system for a wireless communications system adjusts the transmission power of a wireless transmitter, in relation to the number of ACKs expected for wireless transmission on a wireless link. For example, the wireless unit monitors the number of ACKs (or reception errors) to be received for wireless packets sent via the wireless link. The wireless unit determines the number of lost ACKs for the number of ACKs that is expected to be received.
