<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for distributing and managing document data with sufficient safety measures for a change in a distribution destination. <P>SOLUTION: When distributing document data from an MFP 4 that is a document data receiving device, to a PC 2 by a distribution server 1, distribution processing is performed based on setting registration data in a setting table 19 of the distribution server 1. As the setting registration data, a FAX port of the MFP as a distribution source is registered and a corresponding directory is registered as a distribution destination.
