PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head for vertical recording, wherein a phenomenon in which a magnetic field enters from a main magnetic pole into a reproduction shield, so that the output of the reproduction head is varied, is suppressed, and a gap between the main magnetic pole and a reproduction element is reduced. SOLUTION: The vertical recording magnetic head comprises a vertical recording head having the main magnetic pole and an auxiliary magnetic pole, and the reproduction head having a first reproduction shield, a second reproduction shield, and a magnetoresistance effect element provided between the first and second shields. The main magnetic pole is formed between the auxiliary magnetic pole and the first reproduction shield.
