PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a changing method of the opening degree of a side guide in a reversing rolling mill by which the time between passes without alleviating the opening-degree standard of the side guide. SOLUTION: This method is a changing method of the opening degree of the side guide in the reversing rolling mill for rolling a material to be rolled by repeating a plurality of passes and, in this changing method of the opening degree of the side guide in the reversing rolling mill, the change of the opening degree of the side guide on the inlet side is started before the end of the rolling of each pass on the basis of the rear end position information of the material to be rolled.
