<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain both the light use efficiency and the light on/off ratio high in an image exposing device exposing a light sensitive material to the light modulated by the spatial light modulation element. <P>SOLUTION: The image exposing device has a spatial light modulation element 50 such as a DMD which has many reflecting image elements arranged two dimensionally to modulate the illuminated light, a light source 66 to radiate the light B to this spatial light modulation element 50, and an image focusing optical system 51 to focus images on a light sensitive material 150 with the light B passing through the spatial light modulation element 50.
