<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer appararus with which the removal of recording medium jammed therein is easy, a process cartridge, and to provide an image forming apparatus equipped therewith. <P>SOLUTION: A photoreceptor drum 133 and a transfer roller 135 are housed in a main part frame 131 constituting a casing of the process cartridge 130. A transfer roller cover 131a covering the transfer roller 135 is formed in the main part frame 131a. When a paper sheet wraps around the transfer roller 135 and intrudes into the space between the transfer roller cover 131a and the transfer roller 135, The transfer roller 135 is rotated in an RTD direction opposite to a rotating direction TD during the image formation by the transfer roller 135. At this time, a part of the jam paper sheet Pj is pressed toward a peripheral surface 13a of the transfer roller 135 so as not to be rotated together by the rotation of the transfer roller 135 in the arrow RTD direction.
