A door opening device comprises a telescopic strut formed by a cylinder 4 of rectangular cross-section and a piston 6 of similar cross-section with a piston-rod 20, the cylinder and piston rod being connected to the door and door surround at 18 and 25, and the piston having a notch 8 which is engaged by a latch 10 when the strut is contracted. The compression spring 24 urges the strut into the contracted position and the compression spring 28 is so arranged between the plug 19 and nuts 30 that it comes into action as the strut moves into and out of the contracted position. It is stated that the invention is particularly applicable to folding doors.</p> |
