The thermoplastic polymer film is transparent. It includes a metallic color layer on its underside. On its upper surface there are one or more printed image layers. The packaging comprises or includes such a film to carry printed layer(s). The metallic layer consists of a printing ink containing metal particles. It is silver-colored, preferably comprising an aluminum-particle ink. It is mono- or bi-axially stretched. The upper image is lacquered or lined with a transparent cover layer. A barrier layer is included and the film may form part of a composite e.g. with paper.
