<p>A high efficiency synchronous induction motor obtained by making flux difficult to pass in a q-axis direction without impeding the magnetic path in a d-axis direction thereby increasing salient pole difference. A slit adjacent to a shaft (5) is enlarged to the shaft side along the periphery thereof thus forming a slit enlarged portion (8a). A gas vent (7) is an elongated opening in the d-axis direction and the slit is projected along the circumference of the gas vent (7). The gas vent (7) is composed of an elongated opening extending in a direction shifted by a prescribed angle from the d-axis. The stator core (1) is constituted of a plurality of rotor core portions in the laminating direction and each rotor core portion has a slit of different profile.</p>
