An oil separator for an air conditioner is provided to prevent oil from being scattered by separating oil from gas refrigerant by mounting a screen holder in a lower part of a screen, and to prevent oil from flowing into a refrigerant discharge pipe by moving oil into an oil recovery pipe with the screen holder. An oil separator(100) includes a body(102) having an oil recovery hole(101) and storing oil and gas refrigerant, a refrigerant injection pipe(104) circumferentially injecting oil and gas refrigerant into the body by penetrating a side of the body and centrifugally separating and dropping oil and gas refrigerant, a refrigerant discharge pipe(106) extracting gas refrigerant in the body, a screen(170) installed in the body and penetrated by the refrigerant discharge pipe to additionally separate falling oil, and a screen holder(108) installed in a lower part of the screen to prevent separated oil from flowing into the refrigerant discharge pipe and to drop separated oil to the oil recovery hole. The screen holder is installed at an end of the refrigerant discharge pipe in a lower part of the refrigerant injection pipe of the body.
