<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catheter balloon with which a catheter is properly arranged to be brought into contact with a target lesion part by preventing deforming of a balloon shape in the case of excessive expansion. <P>SOLUTION: The expandable/shrinkable catheter balloon 1 is arranged in the vicinity of a catheter distal end, and the balloon catheter 1 is shaped like a water drop having its maximum diameter part in the range of 3/6 to 5/6 from the distal end part of the catheter balloon 1 in the longitudinal direction of the catheter. In the catheter balloon 1, a value of Dx/Dm obtained from the ratio Dm of the maximum diameter in its reference shape to the maximum diameter in the expanded shape in the case of a balloon internal pressure of 10kPa to 70kPa and a ratio Dx of a balloon diameter at some site excepting for the maximum diameter part in the reference shape of the balloon to a balloon diameter at the some site in the expanded shape of the balloon internal pressure of 10kPa to 70kPa is 0.9 to 1.1, and Dx>1.0 and Dm>1.0 are satisfied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
