A valve unit for an hydraulic pitprop comprises a combined inlet and pressure release valve 9 and a pressure relief valve 13 mounted in an elongated housing 2 having a lateral outlet 20. The valve 9 is opened against a spring 11 by pressure fluid supplied to a nozzle 3 or manually through a hand-lever connected to a lug 15. The valve 13 is mounted on an adjustable and extensible stem 12 and opens when the pressure of fluid passing through openings 20, 18 is excessive. |
