PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device which can detect data abnormality such as the tampering of data occurring when data is written in a physical storage device or after the lapse of time. SOLUTION: The storage device is provided with: a host interface adapter part 2; a storage interface adapter part 3; a cache memory part 4 for temporarily storing data; a host interface adapter part 2; a storage interface adapter part 3; a switch part 5 for connecting the host interface adapter part 2, the storage interface adapter part 3 and the cache memory part 4; a compressed data circuit part 30 for generating compressed data based on written data in the physical storage device 6; and a compressed data storage part 20 for storing the compressed data generated by the compressed data circuit part 30. The compressed data circuit part 30 compresses the read data when reading the data from the physical storage device 6, and compares the compressed data with the compressed data corresponding to read data stored in the compressed data storage part 20, and detects data illegality.
