PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for enhancing the octane number of a petrochemical raffinate to effectively utilize the petrochemical raffinate which has been used as a surplus petrochemical product, as a base material for high quality gasoline having high octane number. SOLUTION: This method for enhancing the octane number of a petrochemical raffinate having a boiling point range of 60 to 150°C and consisting mainly of a 6 to 8C fraction comprises a distillation process for dividing the petrochemical raffinate into a light fraction and a heavy fraction, an isomerization process for isomerizing the light fraction obtained in the distillation process, and a catalytically reforming process for catalytically reforming the heavy fraction obtained in the distillation process.
