PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a higher alkane sulfonylchloride from a higher alkylthiol in an industrially high yield and in a high purity without using a solvent which provides bad effects to global environment. SOLUTION: This method for producing the alkane sulfonylchloride expressed by general formula (2): R-SO<SB>2</SB>Cl--(2) [wherein, R is a 10-18C alkyl] is characterized by reacting a thiol expressed by general formula (1): R-SH--(1) [wherein, R is the same as above] in water solvent with chlorine and then extracting with an alicyclic hydrocarbon solvent.
