PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device which enables inks to be used with a good balance without deteriorating the color reproductivity in a color printer which uses a plurality of color inks. SOLUTION: RGB color image data from an image inputting device is converted into CMYK image data. This image processing device has a data forming section, a mode selecting section, a data replacing section, and a data transmitting means. In this case, the data forming section performs the formation of CMYK ink consumption amount data from the data conversion and CMYK image data which has been prepared in the data conversion. The mode selection section calculates a ratio (a maximum residual quantity/a minimum residual quantity) of the maximum residual quantity and the minimum residual quantity from each residual quantity data for a plurality of the color inks from an image outputting device, and makes a data replacing section active. In this case, the data replacing section performs an ink variation compensating process by selecting an ink variation compensating mode when the value of the ratio is larger than an already set value. The data replacing section performs an ink variation compensating process for replacing the CMYK ink consumption amount data in such a manner that a black ink may be used in the place of a plurality of the color inks by utilizing a relationship that when cyan, magenta and yellow are mixed, black is obtained. The data transmitting means transmits the CMYK ink consumption amount data to the image outputting device by binarizing the CMYK ink consumption amount data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
