PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for removing quickly, easily and inexpensively even solid retained in fibers of a filter cloth. SOLUTION: One filter cloth 9B of a pair of filter clothes 9A, 9B is fixed to one filter plate 4 facing the filter cloth 9B to form the fixed filter cloth 9B, the other filter cloth 9A is set to freely travel in relation to the other filter plate 4 facing the other filter cloth 9A to form the traveling filter cloth 9A. The filter press apparatus is constituted so that separability of cake on a cake contact face of the fixed filter cloth 9B is higher than that on the traveling filter cloth 9A.
