PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain periodic information from ultrasonic data without using an ECG input by improving a conventional frame identification in a cardiac cycle. SOLUTION: A method includes a step of acquiring a sequence of a data frame indicating a two- or three-dimensional region, a step of transforming the data by projection, and a step of calculating periodic timing information based on the transformed data. The data is transformed by projecting in a one dimension and a two-dimension, and the maximum variances are identified. The data indicating a location corresponding to the maximum variance is used as an index for the periodic timing.
