The method involves determining output of a controllable blower (5) with a preset blower speed. The determined output is compared with a preset threshold value. Warning instruction is issued and/or a blower-supported heating device (1) is disconnected during lower-deviation of the value. A pulse width modulation signal is used for determination of the blower speed. Reference values are stored in a memory (8) of a controller (3).
