PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a highly efficient, circular crystal, which is an oxide crystal such as the one represented by the formula: KTa<SB>x</SB>Nb<SB>1-x</SB>O<SB>3</SB>. SOLUTION: The crystal growth apparatus grows and draws the crystal by soaking a seed crystal 7 into a material solution 8 contained in a crucible 1 placed inside a furnace 5. The apparatus is equipped with a heater 4 for adjusting the temperature inside the furnace 5, an inner heater 11 for locally heating a portion of the material solution 8 by coming into contact with the material solution 8 in the crucible 1, a photosensor 14 for detecting the shape of the grown crystal 9 and a temperature controller 15 for controlling the inner heater 11.
