PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the encryption technology for a data processing apparatus in a way of much more decreasing the communication interpretation possibility by a third party. SOLUTION: The data processing apparatus encrypts processing object data into encrypted data and records the encrypted data onto a prescribed recording medium, and decrypts the encrypted data recorded on the recording medium to restore the encrypted data into the processing object data. The data processing apparatus carries out the encryption in the unit of plain text segmented data generated by segmenting the processing object data by each prescribed number of bits, the data processing apparatus varies the number of bits of the plain text segmented data and uses the algorithm and the key changed by each of the plain text segmented data, and mixes dummy data to the other plain text segmented data other than the plain text segmented data whose number of bits is highest to match the number of bits of the other plain text segmented data with the plain text segmented data whose number of bits is highest.
