The invention relates to the use of compatible solutes, in particular ectoine, hydroxyectoine, di-myo-inositolphosphate (DIP), cyclic 2,3-diphosphoglycerate (cDPG), 1,1-diglycerinphosphate (DGP), ß-mannosylclycerate (firoin), ß-mannosylglyceramide (firoin-A), proline bitaine and/or the derivatives thereof and combinations for producing an agent for preventing and treating stomach intestinal tracts and amyloidal diseases. Agents containing said active substances are also disclosed.
