A process for converting optical pulses into electrical pulses comprises generating a light-dependent current pulse train and using three sequential voltage pulse trains to give amplitude control, removal of static offset and a dynamic offset and forming an output pulse from the third train with zero amplitude in packet pauses. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for the above process.
