PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rail joint plate fastening bolt fallout detection device for detecting fallout of a bolt for a rail joint plate in the traveling state of an inspection car. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a non-contact joint detector 6 for detecting a rail joint 1a provided on rails 3 and 4 of the track inspection car 10, a camera 71 provided backward as to the traveling direction of the inspection car relative to the joint detector on the inspection car for taking a static image of the rail joint plate, an illumination optical system 72 for illuminating the joint plate at such an angle that the shadow of a flange of the joint plate overlaps with an insertion hole for a fastening bolt of the joint plate, and a controller for collecting a static image from the camera by releasing the shutter of the camera just when the camera comes to a position corresponding to the rail joint according to a detection signal of the joint detector. With respect to the continuity between the shadow of the flange and its image in the static image, it is detected whether or not an image corresponding to the insertion hole for the fastening bolt exists in the static image.
