PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize variableness of a continuous oscillation wavelength in a large wavelength range for semiconductor laser equipment by using manufacturing technology for ordinary semiconductor laser equipment. SOLUTION: Two lasers are used as one set, and emissions from both lasers are combined by a wave combination device to cover one wavelength region, in which case the diffraction grating distance Lgrt1 of the first laser and that of the second laser Lgrt2 are so structured as to be shifted by a half-cycle of the diffraction grating. This will cause the DBR current values, at which a mode hop takes place, to be shifted at both lasers, thus complementing mutual oscillation wavelengths. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
