PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin polymerization catalyst exhibiting excellent polymerization activities, to provide a process for olefin polymerization using the catalyst, to provide a new transition metal compound useful for the catalyst for olefin polymerization, and to provide anα-olefin-conjugated diene copolymer having specific properties. SOLUTION: The olefin polymerization catalyst comprises (A) a transition metal compound of formula (I) or (II), and (B) an organometallic compound, an organoaluminum oxy compound or an ionizing ionic compound. The new transition metal compound is a compound of formula (I), wherein M is a group 4 or 5 transition metal; m is an integer of 1 to 3; R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrocarbon or the like; R<SP>2</SP>to R<SP>5</SP>are each H, a halogen, a hydrocarbon or the like; R<SP>6</SP>is a halogen, a hydrocarbon or the like; n is a number satisfying a valence of M; and X is a halogen, a hydrocarbon or the like.
