PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methane fermentation method which enables the monitor of a methane fermentation condition and maintenance of a stable methane fermentation condition. SOLUTION: In the methane fermentation method where organic waste is charged to a methane fermentation tank containing anaerobic microorganisms mainly comprising methane bacteria to be subjected to methane fermentation, and hydrogen sulfide in the produced biogas is desulfurized with a wet desulfurizer, methane gas concentration and carbon dioxide gas concentration in the biogas are measured to calculate hydrogen sulfide concentration in the biogas, and operation control of the methane fermentation is carried out from the calculated value.
