PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distribute a load imposed on arithmetic processing for calculation of position information or the like.

SOLUTION: A position information management server for managing position information of an object capable of being specified by detecting an active tag provided in the object by a reader includes: a storage section for storing prescribed information transmitted from the reader; a reception processing section for carrying out processing of receiving the prescribed information from the reader having detected the active tag; a tag information management section for storing the received prescribed information into the storage section; and a position information acquisition section for acquiring the position information denoting the position of the active tag having transmitted the prescribed information, on the basis of the stored prescribed information.
