PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image processing method and an image processing program that can reliably increase the acquisition quality of information recorded on a document such as a form in a simple operation. SOLUTION: An MFP as the image processing apparatus outputs a selection chart 400 including a character image unrecognizable as a specific character and a plurality of character candidates 403 corresponding to the character image. The MFP 100 then reads the selection chart 400 on which a user has selected one character candidate 403, and according to image data obtained by reading the selection chart 400, determines and registers the character corresponding to the character image unrecognizable as a specific character.
