PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separately-ventilated rotary electric machine having an inexpensive and compact structure, combining a brake and a rotation detector, and eliminating a problem on a shortage of a cooling capability even if the rotating electric machine is used at a low speed. SOLUTION: In the rotary electric machine having a cooling apparatus separately ventilated by a cooling fan, a hollow shaft for supporting a stator of a cooling electric motor is fixed to a bracket opposite to a load in the rotary electric machine, the cooling fan is attached to a rotor of the cooling electric motor supported by the hollow shaft through a bearing, and an output shaft of a body of the rotary electric machine penetrates the hollow shaft.
