PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clearly listen to a voice of a speech object even during a travel by applying an onboard apparatus and method of controlling the same to a car audio system or car navigation system capable of forming a hands-free system, for example. SOLUTION: When contents are provided by voice, the voice are provided with a volume in response to operation of a manipulator for volume control, and when providing the voice by a hands-free system, the voice is provided with a volume corresponding to noise.
