PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk array controller capable of preventing the fraudulent copy of contents and safely preserving the contents without using an exclusive backup device. SOLUTION: A RAID controller 105 performs control for making a plurality of disk drives 111-113 function as a redundant disk array of a RAID 1, a RAID 4 or a RAID 5. The RAID controller 105 encrypts write data from a host device 101 by using a key unique to the RAID controller 105 and writes the encrypted write data and redundant data for fault recovery of the encrypted write data to the disk array. Also, the RAID controller 105 reads the encrypted data from the disk array corresponding to a read request from the host device 101 and decrypts the read encrypted data by using the key.
