PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a level-measuring apparatus capable of highly stably and accurately measuring the levels, without having to provide rotating members with members requiring electric energy, thus achieving a simple structure, and almost completely preventing contact failures of an electrical system. SOLUTION: A representative constitution of the level measuring apparatus on this invention is provided with a first gearwheel 4 connected to a wire drum 1; a second gearwheel 5 connected to a detection shaft 10; a planetary gear 7 connecting the first gearwheel 4 to the second gearwheel 5; a carrier 6 for pivoting the planetary gear 7, in such a way as to revolve and making the planetary gear 7 to coaxially revolve with the detection shaft 10; a magnet 8 mounted to the carrier 6; a magnetoelectric converter 12, arranged in the vicinity of the track of the magnet 8 for detecting its approaching and distancing movements; and an elastic body 9 for providing a biasing force in the direction of wire winding for the carrier 6.
