PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foreign odor eliminating mechanism for a sink, which is proof against degradation of a radially-slit cover. SOLUTION: The foreign odor eliminating mechanism for the sink is formed of the radially-slit cover 1, a cartridge 20, a chemical 19, and a closing means 17. The radially-slit cover 1 is set on an upper portion of a garbage accommodation basket 7 arranged in a drain port 6 of the sink, and has a plurality of tongue pieces 4 which tapers toward the center and has holes 9 formed in a base portion thereof. The cartridge 20 has vent holes 22 formed therein, and is detachably set on a rear side m of the radially-slit cover 1. The chemical 19 is stored in the cartridge 20, and exerts a deodorizing action of killing a foreign odor by being adsorbed to the foreign odor via the vent holes 22.
