PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely photograph the eyes of a driver and their peripheral section without blocking the rearward view of the driver. SOLUTION: An apparatus for photographing a driver is provided with: an inside rear view mirror 1 installed in a obliquely upper part ahead of the driver; an LED 2 installed in a obliquely upper part behind the inside rear view mirror 1 for irradiating the inside rear view mirror 1 with an infrared light; and an IR-sensitive infrared camera 4 installed so as to be faced to a region corresponding to the face of the driver. The inside rear view mirror 1 is provided with a first reflecting mirror 1a for reflecting a visible light beam, and for transmitting an infrared light and a second reflecting mirror 1b installed behind the mirror 1a at an angleθfor reflecting an infrared light. The rearward view of the driver 3 is provided by the first reflecting mirror 1b, and the infrared light with which the face of the driver is irradiated from the LED 2 through the first mirror 1a and the second reflecting mirror 1b is advanced to the infrared camera 4, so that the face of the driver 3 can be photographed by the infrared camera 4.
