PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup module equipped with a second guide shaft which is lightweight while keeping strength and can reduced in thickness, and also to provide an optical disk system with the module. SOLUTION: The optical pickup module 14 is provided with a spindle motor 2, an optical pickup 7, a feed motor 3, a transmission mechanism for transmitting driving force of the feed motor 3 to the optical pickup 7, a first guide shaft 5, and a second guide shaft 6 whose both ends are supported and which movably holds the optical pickup 7 at its center part. The diameter of the part holding the optical pickup 7 of the second guide shaft 6 is≤1.7 mm which is larger than that of the parts where the second guide shaft 6 is supported, and satisfies a prescribed expression.
