PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file operation limiting system capable of operating stably equipment using a storage device, and suitable for controlling surely a file capacity.

SOLUTION: A network printer 100 permits and limits a file operation in every file storage area, and acquires total file number and total file capacity in the permitted file storage area, at timing of executing the file operation for the permitted file storage area. The network printer 100 limits the file operation, when either of the total file number or the total file capacity after the file operation is determined to exceed an upper limit value, based on the acquired total file number and total file capacity.
