PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel consumption improving device capable of remarkably improving the fuel economy of an engine. SOLUTION: A fuel consumption improving device body 1 formed by disposing a large number of confetti-like blocks 2 formed by forming film layers 3c including thorium oxide on the outer surface of a ceramic substrate 3 having a large number of projections 3b on its spherical 3a outer surface is inserted into a fuel feed pipe 13 connecting the liquid fuel tank 11 of an automobile 10 to the engine 12. A liquid fuel fed from the liquid fuel tank 11 to the engine 12 through the liquid feed pipe 13 is fed to the engine through the confetti-like blocks 2 on which the thorium oxide 3c is put when it pass the fuel consumption improving device body 1.
