PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which a fluorine-containing halide can inexpensively and simply be produced in good yield according to an industrially advantageous method. SOLUTION: The method for producing the fluorine-containing halide comprises the following steps. A first step of reacting a fluorine-containing sulfonyl halide with a metal sulfide or a hydrocarbon group-containing sulfide salt and providing a fluorine-containing thiosulfonic acid compound and a second step of reacting the fluorine-containing thiosulfonic acid compound with I<SB>2</SB>or Br<SB>2</SB>and affording the fluorine-containing halide.
