PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anthracene derivative suitably usable as a blue light-emitting material of an organic electroluminescent element and composing the organic electroluminescent element having high luminous efficiency and excellent life characteristics. SOLUTION: The anthracene derivative is represented by general formula (1). A compound in which A1to A16, B1to B6and C1to C2are each a hydrogen is cited as a specific example.
