A stator assembly for a dynamoelectric machine includes a core having a plurality of stator teeth and n sets of independent, three-phase windings disposed around the core. Each of the three phase windings are shifted from one adjacent slot winding by an electrical angle of pi/(3n)+theta, and are shifted from the opposite adjacent slot winding by an electrical angle of pi/(3n)-theta.
