<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct two aberrations of a spherical aberration and a coma aberration without accompanying a mechanical mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: A fixed lens 16 formed into one unit is made of glass or plastic and a liquid lens 15 comprises a droplet 10 made of a transparent conductive liquid, a substrate 12, transparent electrodes 13a, 13b and 14 formed on both surfaces thereof and an insulating layer 11. A water repellent coating is applied between the insulating layer 11 and the droplet 10 and the transparent electrodes 13a, 13b and 14 have pattern wiring connected to a control circuit. The focal distance of the droplet 10 and the position of the droplet 10 in a plane orthogonal to the optical axis are changed by applying a ground voltage or an equivoltage to the transparent electrode 14 and controlling input voltages applied to the transparent electrodes 13a and 13b. The focal distance of the liquid lens 15 is changed to correct the spherical aberration in combination with the fixed lens 16 and the coma aberration is corrected by optical axis deviation from the fixed lens 16 generated by the movement of the liquid lens 15 in the plane orthogonal to the optical axis.
